Full tear down and rebuild. First time using MoistureShield composite decking. Composite is notoriously hot in direct sun, and I can say this brand is considerably cooler than others. Complete with my favorite Fortress aluminum railing system. This build was a lot more complicated than I anticipated. Specifically the multiple landings connected with various stairs. Lot of geometry to calculate the spacing and height of steps to maintain proper building code while also meeting the upgraded hardscape pathway elevations. For the walkway, we used the original footprint, which is why the joints are a bit larger than normal. We added a solid two inch base along with a layer of mortar before filling all the joints and gaps. Now this walkway is level, safe, easy to walk on, and will last a very long time. No more risk of injury or rolled ankles.

Master bath renovation. Objective: no grout lines, and minimal/organic vibe using Tadelakt Moroccan plaster. The total room size doubled to 81 ft². Original shower floor fell out during demo due to rot (thankfully the homeowner stopped using it years ago). To keep it short & sweet:
- Gutted & rebuilt the original bathroom, and extended the shower wall by deleting the adjacent bedroom closet.
- Replaced ALL water supply lines throughout the entire home, as well as the water supply line from street to house, and sewer line from house to street. Replaced water heater with tankless gas heater, and relocated plumbing lines & HVAC for the new bath footprint—all done by my great friend Jacob with 4th Generation Plumbing.
- Three walls made of Tadelakt Moroccan plaster. A tedious and painstaking process that turned out perfectly. The Tadelakt process: plywood, waterproof membrane, metal lathe, two coats masonry mix (stucco), two coats Tadelakt base, two topcoats white Tadelakt topcoat from Color Atelier, followed by three coats beeswax to seal it all. 24 hour dry time between coats.
- Vanity wall painted with limestone based mineral paint in Bibliothèque from Color Atelier paired with beautiful Alabaster sconces from Regina Andrew
- Full wet room floor design with matte black porcelain tiles—all water flows directly to the linear shower drain.
- Freestanding tub, natural oak vanity with quartz top, brushed gold fixtures from Signature Hardware, Toto one piece toilet with heated bidet, heated seat, self cleaning with its own remote control and automatic functions. Full length freestanding mirror, light adjustable vanity mirror. We installed a crystal clear low iron glass shower screen. Four new ceiling lights, a new exhaust vent, and a preexisting roof leak repair.

Fully rebuilt this sagging deck, added about 70+ sq ft, removed a hot tub, and installed Trex composite decking in Havana Gold with concealed fasteners in the porch. Also removed a massive treehouse to make way for some awesome landscaping coming soon. 40 cubic yards of waste hauled off. The old decking was made of 2×6, and the screened porch was built on top of the old deck. Because new decking is thinner, the entire project needed to be raised 0.5” to maintain consistent dimensions throughout the outdoor space of 800 square feet. No trip hazards, plus new porch doors with hardware. New steps, landing, expanded walkway. Completed ahead of schedule, and on budget!

Rebuild & upgrade for this 2,000 square foot lake front home. We replaced two 10×10 beams that were 12’ long, removed an under-decking drainage system that was causing rot and structural failure, installed new aluminum railing with hardwired LED post lights, and extended the pavers for a nice entrance at the front steps! We love the view, the oak tree, and the warm feeling of the night time lighting.

The upper deck was restored and refinished with the existing wood. Installed a new joist band (not shown) to keep it from sagging. The ground level deck was almost entirely rebuilt. What initially appeared to be some rotten deck boards soon led to the root of the problem. The structural support system was resting directly on the ground. All new joists (structural support), hangers, joist band, and new deck boards. First time using concealed fasteners which makes the deck look super clean. After a few months of curing the new wood was finely sanded smooth, and stained. Really happy with this one. Also removed the grill platform so they can watch movies and concerts on a massive 10’+ projector screen. Surround sound, string lights. Good vibes.
Project: NBL

Project: NBL complete! Wood is quite resilient, and most of the time can be restored with a little TLC. Seeing the woodgrain come back to life is pure joy. Picture 4 shows a side by side comparison before & after sanding. Sanding is the step completed before the final staining process. Thank you to these wonderful clients/friends for being patient during this restoration

Here’s a before & after of my latest deck restoration. It should last many more years with proper care. My first “hybrid” deck, with both paint and stain. First i cleaned, stripped, and sanded the railings followed by primer and paint. Then I replaced old or rotten deck boards, sanded and stained with dark walnut color. We are all happy with this one! Let me know if you need any freshening up around your home! #decks #fences
